The smallest of the main islands in the Bay of Naples, Procida is distinguished by the tightly packed facades of its harbor district, Terra Murata, stacked in warm ochre, terracotta, and faded yellow above the fishing port of Corricella. The island's small scale, working-class character, and relative scarcity of mass tourism compared to Capri and Ischia have preserved an authentic southern Italian coastal community. The narrow lanes of the old quarter and the views from the abbey of San Michele Arcangelo are the main photographic subjects.
