A walled medieval city on a hillside in the Spoleto valley, known internationally for its Festival dei Due Mondi (Festival of Two Worlds) held each June-July. The Ponte delle Torri, a fourteenth-century aqueduct-bridge spanning a wooded gorge at 80 metres height, is the city's most arresting architectural feature. The cathedral's twelfth-century Romanesque facade and an interior apse frescoed by Filippo Lippi add to the city's concentrated artistic patrimony.
