A tiny promontory village on the Ligurian coast southeast of Genoa, Portofino surrounds a small harbour of pastel-painted buildings reflected in the calm water. A path through the Portofino Regional Nature Park connects the village to the lighthouse on the headland and continues to the abbey of San Fruttuoso, accessible only by boat or on foot. The bay is known for clear water and recreational diving over a submerged bronze Christ statue.
