At roughly 56 square kilometres, the Seiser Alm is the largest high-altitude alpine meadow in Europe, situated above the town of Castelrotto in South Tyrol. Hay barns and farmhouses punctuate open grassland with the jagged Sassolungo and Sciliar massifs as a backdrop. The plateau is accessible by cable car from Ortisei and Siusi and attracts photographers for its early-summer wildflower displays and winter cross-country skiing.
