Playa Blanca is a resort town at the southern tip of Lanzarote and the departure point for ferries to Fuerteventura, built around a natural harbour and a curving promenade beach of pale sand. The resort has developed more gradually than southern Gran Canaria and retains a low-rise character that complies with the building restrictions implemented island-wide following César Manrique's influence on Lanzarote's planning policies. The proximity to the Papagayo coves a few kilometres east gives visitors easy access to more natural beaches.
