The Cliffs of the Giants rise vertically from the sea along the southwestern coast of Tenerife, reaching heights between 300 and 600 metres. Their sheer basalt faces, streaked in dark grey and rust, are best appreciated by boat, where the scale of the formation becomes fully apparent. Whale-watching excursions departing from the marina below frequently encounter resident pods of pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins in the channel between Tenerife and La Gomera.
