The highest peak in Spain at 3,715 metres, Mount Teide is a stratovolcano rising from the centre of Tenerife and the focal point of Teide National Park. Its lunar landscape of hardened lava flows and red-ochre pumice fields draws photographers for both sunrise alpenglow and the dramatic shadow the cone casts across the island at dawn. A cable car ascends to near the summit, where views on clear days extend to the neighbouring islands.
