Cerrado Protected Areas: Chapada dos Veadeiros and Emas National Parks

Chapada dos Veadeiros and Emas national parks together preserve the essence of the Cerrado, a tropical savanna counted among the oldest and richest ecosystems on Earth. Across millennia of shifting climate, these landscapes have acted as refuges where species could endure, a role scientists expect them to play again as the planet warms. UNESCO joined the two parks in a single natural World Heritage listing in 2001.
