Bardenas Reales is a semi-arid badlands plateau in Navarre covering some 42,000 hectares of clay, chalk, and sandstone formations eroded into castiletes (buttes), cliffs, and ravines. The Cabezo de Castildetierra pinnacle is the signature landscape feature of the area. A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2000, it is also a major raptor habitat and one of the most dramatic landscapes in northern Spain.
