Peñafiel Castle in Valladolid province is one of the most distinctive medieval fortresses in Spain, an elongated ship-like structure running 210 metres along a narrow ridge above the Duero valley. The keep towers at both ends give it an unusual silhouette visible from far across the Ribera del Duero wine-producing plain. The castle now houses the provincial wine museum.
