The Picos de Europa National Park straddles the borders of Asturias, Cantabria, and León, comprising a massif of limestone peaks that rise abruptly from the northern coast plain. The Cares Gorge trail and the Naranjo de Bulnes rock tower are flagship destinations for trekkers and climbers. The park is one of the largest in Spain and shelters brown bears and chamois in its higher reaches.
