A fortified citadel town on the southernmost tip of Corsica, built on a limestone promontory overhanging 70-metre sea cliffs above a narrow sea channel separating France from Sardinia. The old town's medieval Genoese buildings and loggia appear to extend directly from the cliff edge when viewed from below by boat. The surrounding marine reserve encompasses sea caves accessible only by kayak or boat.
