A royal château perched above the Loire river at Amboise, where several French kings resided during the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. Leonardo da Vinci spent the last three years of his life nearby at the Clos Lucé manor, and his tomb is traditionally held to be in the château's Saint-Hubert chapel. The panoramic terrace above the river provides one of the Loire's most recognised viewpoints.
