The westernmost point of the British mainland, Land's End is a headland of ancient granite rising from the Atlantic in a series of stacks and sea caves. The Longships Lighthouse stands on a rock barely a kilometre offshore, and on exceptionally clear days the Scilly Isles are visible approximately 45 kilometres to the west-southwest. The cliff path along the coastal edge north and south of the point follows some of the most exposed and dramatic sea-cliff scenery in Cornwall.
