Straddling the Somerset and Devon border, Exmoor is a compact national park of heather moorland, deep wooded combes, and a dramatic coastline of high cliffs and headlands. The park is one of the darkest places in southern England and holds an International Dark Sky Reserve designation, making it a significant location for astrophotography. The native Exmoor ponies, a rare semi-wild breed, roam freely across the moorland and are among the most distinctive wildlife subjects in the park.
