A high moorland plateau in Devon covering 954 square kilometres, Dartmoor is characterised by open heather moor, boggy grassland, and granite outcrops known as tors. Hay Tor, Brentor, and the group at Hound Tor are the most visited of around 160 tors on the moor, their exposed rock stacks providing dramatic elevated positions with views across the surrounding farmland. The moor also contains an exceptional concentration of Bronze Age remains including stone rows, stone circles, and cairns.
