The largest prehistoric stone circle in the world by diameter, Avebury encompasses an entire village within its Neolithic bank and ditch. Three stone circles stand within the outer enclosure, and the village pub, church, and manor house all sit among the megaliths in an unusual juxtaposition of epochs. The associated Silbury Hill — the largest prehistoric man-made mound in Europe — and the West Kennet long barrow lie within walking distance.
