A folly tower standing at 312 metres on the Cotswold escarpment, Broadway Tower commands views over thirteen counties on clear days and represents one of the highest points in the region. Built in 1799 by the Earl of Coventry to test whether a beacon could be seen from his house many miles away, it later became a retreat for William Morris and his Pre-Raphaelite circle. The surrounding country park allows walking on open plateau above the escarpment edge.
