Connemara National Park covers 2,000 hectares of bog, heath, grassland, and mountain in the heart of Connemara, centred on the Twelve Bens range. Diamond Hill, a quartzite peak within the park, offers a waymarked looped walk with views over Killary Harbour, the sea, and the surrounding bog landscape. The park is home to a free-ranging herd of Connemara ponies, a breed native to the region, and supports breeding merlin, peregrine falcon, and red grouse.
