Achill Island is the largest island in Ireland, connected to the Mayo mainland by a road bridge at Achill Sound, with a landscape of bog, mountain, and Atlantic-facing cliffs and beaches. Keem Bay on the island's western tip is a sheltered cove with turquoise water set below the cliffs of Croaghaun, one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. The Great Western Greenway cycling route terminates at Achill, linking the island to the town of Westport.
