A wetland national park on Estonia's west coast centred on Matsalu Bay, an internationally important staging post for migratory waterbirds on the East Atlantic Flyway. In spring, hundreds of thousands of ducks, geese, waders, and swans gather on the shallow coastal meadows and reed beds during migration. The park encompasses coastal meadows maintained by traditional grazing, and a network of observation towers allows close views of roosting and feeding flocks.
