Estonia's largest national park stretches along the north coast, encompassing a peninsula-and-bay coastline, dense boreal forest, raised peat bogs, and a series of manor estates that survive from the Baltic German nobility. The Viru Bog boardwalk is a well-known route through an open raised mire where panoramic views of sedge pools and bog pine extend to the horizon. Coastal fishing villages with traditional wooden architecture are scattered along the limestone shore.
