A national park in eastern Finland centred on the Koli hills, whose forested slopes rise to 347 metres above Lake Pielinen — one of Finland's largest lakes — creating a panorama that profoundly influenced Finnish national romantic artists and composers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The view from Ukko-Koli summit across the lake and islands below is considered one of the most iconic landscapes in Finland. Winter brings reliable snow and a small downhill ski area on the slopes.
