A 440-kilometre waymarked trail running through the mountains of northern Sweden from Abisko in the north to Hemavan in the south, widely regarded as the country's most celebrated long-distance hiking route. The trail passes through four national parks and multiple nature reserves, crossing high alpine terrain, glacial valleys, and birch forests. Strategically placed mountain huts operated by the Swedish Tourist Association allow multi-day traverses without carrying a tent.
