Russell Glacier is an accessible outlet glacier of the Greenland Ice Sheet, reachable in approximately 25 kilometres of travel from Kangerlussuaq. The glacier's active calving front and the moraines deposited by its recent retreat are directly observable from close range without specialist equipment or guides. It is one of very few locations where a visitor can stand directly at the edge of the Greenland Ice Sheet with relative ease.
