Saksun is a remote valley settlement on the northwest coast of Streymoy, accessible via a single road that descends through a dramatic landscape to a tidal lagoon partially enclosed by a natural basalt bar. A turf-roofed church and a cluster of traditional farm buildings overlook the lagoon and the mountains beyond. The site is frequently cited as one of the most scenically located villages in the Faroe Islands.
