Rauðfeldsgjá is a narrow slot canyon on the southern flank of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, formed by a deep fissure in a moss-draped cliff face. A small stream flows through the gorge floor and visitors can wade or scramble into the darkness as the walls narrow to a metre or less. The entrance, framed by the outer lava landscape and green cliff edges, is a distinctive photographic subject.
