Þórsmörk, meaning 'Forest of Thor', is a highland valley carved by three glaciers — Tindfjallajökull, Eyjafjallajökull, and Mýrdalsjökull — creating a sheltered microclimate that supports unusually dense birch woodland for Iceland's interior. The valley sits at the southern terminus of the Laugavegur trail and the northern end of the Fimmvörðuháls route. Multiple trails explore ridges above the treeline, providing elevated views of the surrounding ice caps.
