Yen Tu-Vinh Nghiem-Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes

A Vietnamese school of Zen was born on Yen Tu mountain, where a Tran-dynasty emperor exchanged his throne for a monk's robe and founded Truc Lam Buddhism in the 13th century. Twelve sites of pagodas, temples, shrines and archaeological remains spread from the forested peaks to the river plains below, tracing the faith that shaped Dai Viet under the Tran in the 13th and 14th centuries — and pilgrims still climb the mountain today. UNESCO inscribed the complex in 2025.
