In a mountain-ringed valley of central Vietnam, clusters of brick tower-temples mark My Son, the religious and royal heart of the Champa Kingdom from the 4th to the 13th century. Champa took its spiritual bearings from Indian Hinduism, and generations of kings raised and rebuilt shrines to Shiva here across nine centuries. UNESCO inscribed the sanctuary in 1999.
