Tajik National Park (Mountains of the Pamirs)

In the Pamir highlands where Eurasia's greatest mountain ranges converge, Tajik National Park protects more than 2.5 million hectares of plateaux, gorges and peaks that top 7,000 metres. Among its 1,085 glaciers is the Fedchenko, the longest valley glacier anywhere outside the polar regions, feeding 170 rivers and over 400 lakes in a nearly uninhabited wilderness roamed by snow leopards, Marco Polo sheep and Siberian ibex. UNESCO inscribed the park in 2013.
