Fells Point is a historic waterfront neighbourhood in Baltimore, founded in the eighteenth century as a deep-water shipbuilding and maritime district on the Patapsco River. Its cobblestone streets and brick rowhouses survive from the era when fast Baltimore clipper ships were built and launched here. Once a rough sailors' quarter of taverns and boarding houses, it was saved from a planned expressway and restored from the 1970s. Visitors walk the belgian-block streets and piers past old warehouses.
