Elm Hill is a cobbled medieval lane in Norwich, widely considered one of the most complete Tudor streets in England. Its timber-framed and pastel-plastered houses lean over the narrow paving, largely rebuilt after a fire in 1507 that destroyed the earlier buildings. Once a district of wealthy merchants trading in wool and cloth, it later declined and narrowly escaped demolition in the early 20th century before being preserved. Today antiquarian bookshops, craft studios and tea rooms fill the old houses along the winding street.
