The Jewellery Quarter is a historic manufacturing district of Birmingham where jewellery and precious-metal working have been concentrated for over two centuries. At its peak it held thousands of small workshops, and the trade still continues in restored Georgian and Victorian buildings along its streets. A former works preserved as a museum shows how craftsmen once bent over benches making rings and chains. The area also holds one of the city's finest Georgian squares and a garden cemetery, and remains a rare working industrial quarter.
