The Rheinturm is a concrete telecommunications tower on the banks of the Rhine in Düsseldorf, completed in 1981 and rising about 240 metres. It is the tallest building in the city and a fixture of its riverside skyline near the state parliament. A viewing platform and a revolving restaurant near the top look out over the Rhine, the old town and the surrounding Ruhr region. The shaft carries a striking array of illuminated portholes that function as a decimal clock, once among the largest timepieces in the world.
