A large central market in Mandalay, the cultural capital of upper Myanmar, this bustling bazaar and the streets around it trade in textiles, jade, produce, dried goods and everyday necessities. Its crowded halls serve the city's residents, while nearby workshops turn out the gold leaf, stone carvings and silk weaving for which the region is renowned.
