A central square in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, this plaza sits before the grand colonial-era municipal theater and is framed by two of the city's most storied hotels. Laid out during the French period, it forms a genteel node along the fashionable Dong Khoi shopping street. Fountains and landscaped beds decorate the paving, and the square connects the theater district to nearby cathedrals and department stores. It remains a popular meeting point and a showcase of the elegant French colonial architecture that lines the surrounding avenues.
