The Crystal Mosque sits on Wan Man Island in the Terengganu River near Kuala Terengganu, part of an Islamic heritage park that features scale models of famous mosques from around the world. Completed in 2008, it is built of steel, glass and crystal, giving its domes and minarets a shimmering, translucent quality that is especially dramatic when illuminated at night. The waterfront setting allows the whole structure to be reflected in the river. Its modern materials have made it a distinctive mosque in the country.
