The Ahmed Al-Fateh Islamic Centre in Manama surrounds the Al Fateh Grand Mosque and functions as a major hub of Islamic learning in Bahrain. Completed in the late 1980s, the complex is famous for one of the largest fibreglass domes in the world, crowning a prayer hall that can hold thousands of worshippers. Inside are Kufic calligraphy, Italian marble floors and chandeliers, and the centre houses the national library. It is one of few mosques in the country open to non-Muslim visitors on guided tours.
