This large government complex in Quezon City houses the House of Representatives of the Philippines. Built in the late 1970s, its low horizontal blocks and broad plaza were laid out on a spacious campus north of central Manila as part of an effort to decentralise national institutions. The main session hall accommodates hundreds of legislators beneath a wide span, and surrounding buildings hold committee rooms and offices. Its name has become shorthand for the lower chamber itself.
