Set in a sixteenth-century hacienda amid gardens in the southern Xochimilco district, this museum was created from the private collection of Dolores Olmedo, a patron and friend of Diego Rivera. It holds one of the largest collections of works by Rivera and Frida Kahlo, along with pre-Columbian and folk art. Peacocks and hairless Xoloitzcuintli dogs roam the grounds among the trees. The tranquil estate combines art, history, and landscape well away from the crowded center of the capital.
