The Ahmed Zabana National Museum in Oran is one of Algeria's most important regional museums, named after a figure of the independence struggle. Its varied collections span natural history, prehistory, ethnography, fine arts and the story of the liberation war. Galleries present mounted animals, archaeological finds, Berber and Islamic crafts, and paintings by Algerian and European artists. A section devoted to the anti-colonial struggle displays weapons, documents and photographs.
