Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum

Facing the People's Assembly Hall in central Chongqing, this museum documents the history and culture of the upper Yangtze and the great Three Gorges region. Its galleries preserve artefacts rescued before the reservoir flooding, alongside Ba-culture bronzes, wartime relics and a panoramic display of the gorges. A domed theatre and exhibits on the city's role as a wartime capital add depth. The curved facade and rooftop garden echo the flow of the river below.
