Delap-Uliga-Djarrit

Known by its initials DUD, this chain of three connected islets forms the main urban centre of Majuro atoll and the effective capital of the Marshall Islands. Linked by a single road running the length of the strip, it holds the government offices, the cathedral, markets, the museum and most of the country's shops and services. Barely more than a road's width of land in places, DUD illustrates the extreme density of an atoll capital squeezed between lagoon and ocean.
