This fortified islet rises steeply from the sea off the southern coast of Saint Vincent near Young Island, its summit reached by a long flight of steps cut into the volcanic rock. Built by the British around 1800 to guard Calliaqua Bay, it retains cannon on two gun platforms at different levels. The narrow, near-vertical crag gave a commanding field of fire over the anchorage. The climb rewards visitors with views across the bay and the neighbouring islands.
