This ridge overlooking Castries, whose name means Hill of Good Luck, was fiercely contested between British and French forces and retains extensive military ruins from the colonial era. Fort Charlotte's barracks, powder magazines, and gun emplacements survive along the crest, some now used by a college. A monument marks the 1796 assault by the British in which the 27th Inniskilling Regiment took the heights. The elevated position gives commanding views over the harbour and the town below.
