This pedestrian street forms the cultural spine of Oaxaca's historic centre, linking the main square with the great church of Santo Domingo. Lined with restored colonial houses in soft green and ochre stone, it gathers galleries, craft shops, restaurants and museums along a walkable stretch closed to traffic. Musicians, vendors and strolling families give it a lively character, especially in the evenings and during festivals. Its cobbles and consistent architecture make it one of the most photographed thoroughfares in southern Mexico.
