Dundurn Castle is a grand neoclassical villa on a bluff above the harbour in Hamilton, built in the 1830s for Sir Allan MacNab, a railway magnate and premier of the Province of Canada. Its forty rooms, restored to the 1850s, illustrate the contrast between the lives of the wealthy family upstairs and the servants who kept the household running below. Costumed staff demonstrate period cooking in the working kitchen and gardens. The estate overlooks the bay and remains one of the finest historic homes in the region.
