On the outskirts of Montrose in western Colorado, this open-air museum assembles dozens of original and relocated historic buildings into a recreated frontier town spanning roughly 1880 to 1930. A general store, saloon, schoolhouse, jail, and homestead are furnished with tens of thousands of period artifacts collected over decades. Visitors walk the streets and enter each structure as though the town were still inhabited, in an immersive picture of settlement life.
