Rising four hundred feet above the plains, Nebraska's capitol in Lincoln is a landmark Art Deco tower designed by Bertram Goodhue and completed in 1932, nicknamed the Tower of the Plains. A gilded dome caps the tower, topped by a bronze figure known as The Sower scattering seed. The building is famed for its elaborate program of mosaics, murals, and carved inscriptions celebrating Nebraska's history and agriculture. It also houses the nation's only unicameral, single-house state legislature.
